Each 60 min session costs $55. There may be additional fees added for non virtual sessions if the geographical location of the student is more than a 15 minute drive each way.
Additional fees may also be added if there are any special requirements requested by the family that go beyond the scope of a typical tutoring session (excluding IEP and 504 Plan specifications).
COVID-19 UPDATE: In order to mitigate risk and help keep all clients safe, tutoring sessions are currently being conducted virtually. However, in-person sessions can be held at a agreed upon and well-ventilated or outdoor space for an additional fee during this time.
Our tutor is certified to teach English Language Arts & Reading and ESL at the middle and high school level. This includes honors, pre-AP, inclusion, and on-level (aka, "regular").
This goal of this session is to help you make an informed decision about Austin English Tutor's services. In this 30 minute session you will have the opportunity to ask questions, get to know the tutor, and make sure that your student's needs will be met. The tutor will also make sure that your student requires tutoring and that she can help them achieve their goals. It is important that both student and tutor feel comfortable with the relationship.
Yes! Tutoring sessions will never be conducted with another student present (unless special arrangements have been made with two or more families).

Under normal circumstances, tutoring sessions are primarily conducted virtually, but can be conducted in the student's home or agreed upon public space - it's up the family's preference and availability.

In order to ensure that your student's goals are being targeted, the tutor will utilize her expertise in the subject and the student’s classroom curriculum, as well as coordinate with the parents and teachers (as necessary), to tailor each session to the student’s needs.
The tutor will also be happy to accommodate any IEP or 504 Plan accommodations as needed at no additional charge.
This is 100% up to the student and their family. With the parent's permission, the tutor can reach out to the student’s teacher(s) to increase communication and understand the requirements of the coursework. Having communication with the teacher can also help provide insight into the areas where the student needs the most help.
We work with the availability of the student. During your assessment, the tutor will discuss scheduling conflicts and work with the family to determine the best dates and times for each session.
Please contact the tutor at least 24 hours before your scheduled session if you need to cancel or reschedule. If you have an emergency situation, please contact the tutor as soon as possible.
20% of the session fee will be charged for sessions canceled within 12 hours of the scheduled session time (emergency situations exempted).
